After researching both Plasma and LCD/LED Flatscreen Televisions online AND in local stores I decided that the new generation Plasma TV would be my choice, I cannot understand why people are paying THOUSANDS more for a 240hz TV when Plasma offers 600hz minimum? With the lifespan of both TV’s reaching 100,000 hrs and burn in no longer being a problem..why not Plasma?? I’ve only had the TV a couple of days so I cannot comment on the longevity of the product but I can say that this TV by far has the BEST picture I’ve seen and I’ve been to every local Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, Conn’s and local dealers….at least 5 time each.br /br /It doesn’t give off the heat that my 32″ Visio does either, very efficient. With the user friendly calibration getting it set up was a snap although I still may have it professionally calibrated sometime in December. The remote is very easy to use and understand, the stand (I dont have it mounted on the wall yet) is very sturdy and swivels making it easy to twist the screen from side to side. I have this set in my living room where there are 6 big windows, the reflection is not as bad as I thought it would be but being able to twist the set just an inch or so stops all reflection…its awesome.br /br /The Picture…MAN!! My wife is amazed at how “3-D” the picture looks and thats on Cox cable HD broadcast not to mention blu-ray. I watched the Oregon/USC replay just to get an idea how sports would look…WOW!! (Geaux Tigers btw..LSU!)br /br /All in all I am very pleased with the set, the seemless glass screen is beautiful and makes the set very professional when its turned off…cant say much more..for the price (I got it for 00 on sale at Amazon with free shipping)you cannot do better..trust me and save time researching..you wont be sorry.

CHEAP Pioneer PDP-6020FD 60-Inch Class KURO Plasma HDTV

I bought this knowing that this is the end of the line for Pioneers’ big-screen TVs, and also knowing that this TV is approaching almost 2 years old since it’s original release date. But from all the reviews, the KURO ‘20-series was the one to get for its deep “blacks” as well as its vibrant, rich colors.br /br /After a month, I have not been disappointed neither. The picture is absolutely STUNNING. No pixelation, blockiness or graininess, nor ghosting or strobing. Just breathing taking detail and fluid motion. I’ve looked at Sony Bravia’s and Panasonic’s, but after watching the latest in Blu-Ray movies on this stunner, I have been taken aback by its crystal clear and silky beauty of its 60 inch video presentation. None of the others has compared next to this majestic beast. And it hasn’t yet been calibrated, which is scheduled in a couple weeks.br /br /I won’t go into all the technical reviews of this machine as I’m sure you can find much more eloquently and technically accurate writings elsewhere.br /br /However, I will go into a little nitpicking that was not mentioned by anyone else during my research.br /br /1) The audio Digital Out (optical) only passes 2-channel (stereo) Dolby Digital or PCM. I was annoyed when I first hooked up my PS3 HDMI to the KURO, then the KURO digital out to my AV receiver only to hear stereo. After contacting Pioneer, I discovered to my disappointment that the KURO only passes 2-channel. In fact, I found out that practically all TVs that include a digital out send only 2-channel. (sigh) I had to connect an optical cable from my PS3 directly to my AV receiver to enjoy anything beyond 2-channel. Unfortunately, I do notice just a slight audio timing shift from the video image. Almost imperceptible (and for most people, unnoticeable), but I do notice it. On top of that, I have more cables to mess with, as I have a DirecTV box and Xbox 360 in addition to my PS3, which means I have to have 3 optical cables going directly to my AV receiver (and ensure I switch to the right input on the AV receiver), which I’m lucky to say has more than enough optical inputs to handle this mess. If the Digital Out could pass the full, unaltered audio stream then it would require only 1 cable going to the AV receiver and setting it to the same input regardless of what I was showing on the KURO, or maybe it’s time to invest in a multiple-HDMI-input AV receiver (money, money, money)…br /br /2) The programmable remote is rather unremarkable and difficult to read in low-light situations (especially for those that are far-sighted). But who are we kidding; if you are one of those that spends k+ on a TV then you probably also have a high-dollar third-party remote (the Harmony One for me) to control all your big ticket toys. I keep the factory remote safely tucked away for emergencies.br /br /3) The on-screen interface is spartan. There aren’t too many features to change on this machine. I do wish that it had auto-sensing inputs, like the Sony Bravia’s, which would clearly indicate which inputs and type have connected devices on them. When I initially powered-up the monster, I had to go to the back and refresh my memory which ports are the HDMI ones I used (the back HDMI inputs are 4 through 6, with port 7 HDMI on the left side).br /br /4) Sound quality was very good for two-speakers, but no where near capable of a true 5/6/7.1 surround system. Again, if you forked over k for this behemoth, you probably also have a killer audio system to go with it. I do wish that the front speakers could be set as an input to handle the center channel, like my deceased Mitsubishi Diamond 65″ RPTV. Instead, I have to hang an independent center speaker below the built-in speakers (I don’t usually use my audio system when watching regular TV so I need the built-in speakers to work).br /br /5) Be careful what you wish for. The blacks are the “blackest” I have ever seen in a TV. Unfortunately, I also noticed that some scenes can get too dark to discern certain details (for instance, the bold black headline of a newspaper in the shadow such as in the movie, “The Watchmen”).br /br /Besides those points, I am completely satisfied with its video performance. And with the “discontinued” signs beginning to be foisted on this last-of-its-kind, killer deals are sure to be had for those wanting the best.

I have been cautiously reviewing plasmas and LCD’s for the past year or so. I wanted this to be a long-term purchase that I wouldn’t regret in 6 months to a year. It seems the technology has been increasing as fast as the prices have been decreasing on these kinds of t.v.’s. My head started to spin and I figured I’d just hold steady for awhile. That was until Amazon had an offer of 1 year no interest and no payments on this t.v. I pulled the trigger after reading some very good reviews of this product. The only thing I became truly certain of was that I wanted it to have internet capability so that I could stream movies…this set has the Netflix “program” and I figured that was going to come in handy to have…or whatever new downloadable technology becomes available in the coming years. Glad I chose this!br /I have had the set for about a week now. I’m still in my “break-in” period, so I have all the settings pretty low. However, I have sampled what the final settings will look like and I am more than thrilled with the picture quality and the functionality of the set. This is a HUGE t.v….and I mean HUGE!! It is a great looking set with one single pane of glass rather than a big outside bezel. The colors are true and rich, and I’m confident that they will only get better once it is broken in fully and I can turn on the full settings. It comes with a stand already installed, which works great. I may still buy the Sanus wall bracket, but it isn’t totally necessary with this nice stand, either. The sound is actually very good. Pretty rich for just standard speakers…sounds very nice for regualar watching when I don’t want to turn on the theater system. I haven’t used the Netflix program YET, but I look forward to streaming a movie from their tens of thousands available in the coming years. This was a good purchase from my perspective, and to say I was over cautious would be an understatement. The 12 month “financing” and free delivery were icing on the cake. It has only been a week, but I expect to be continually thrilled with this for years to come.

We had been looking at many plasma and lcd flat screens and even tossed around a large screen dlp. We have a 52 inch lcd Toshiba that is in a family room and wanted a larger screen in what we call our gathering room off of the kitchen. After going around to many electronic stores we went with the LG60PG60.Being able to view the many flat screens together it was obvious. For the money and picture quality it was LG.br / We also went with a Samsung surround sound system ,Sony Blue Ray and a APC H15 line conditioner and surge protector. And you have to hang it on the wall, looks fantastic !

I normally write rather long, detailed reviews of electronics, but in this case, I’ll be brief. As of October 2008, you will NOT find a better picture on any LCD or Plasma TV anywhere. “But what about that Samsung I saw at Best Buy?” — This is better. “But what about that Sony I saw at Circuit City?” — This is better. The blacks are solid. The reds pop off the screen like you won’t believe. Buy this TV, don’t look back, and you’ll be as happy as you can be. I can’t imagine that any 1080p TV will ever look significantly better than this.br /br /As for mounts, if you want an articulated mount, the TV is balanced in such a way that a slightly over-engineered mount is a good investment to keep it stable. The Peerless PLAV70 with the PLP-NEC61 adapter plate is perfect. The SA760P mount is also great if you don’t need to extend the TV as far but you want top-notch cable management. It also needs the PLP-NEC61 adapter plate.
An experience like never before requires an uncompromising attention to detail. Introducing the revolutionary 1080p plasma only from Pioneer, designed to bring sight and sound together in the most inconceivable, alluring and amazing of ways. Tapping into the most potent of emotions requires an uncompromising attention to detail. That’s why Pioneer line was designed to awaken your sense in the most extraordinary, beautiful ways.
